A Federal government agency customer called Jeskell with a critical and immediate need for a 50% increase in processing capacity. They were in a time crunch because they had to take on increased, and unexpected, workloads.
Thanks to IBM eServer "capacity on demand" feature and Jeskell's ability, as a top tier IBM business partner, to cut through red tape, the customer had the added capacity in two days. And they didn't have to buy a new server.
Capacity on demand allows Jeskell customers to buy a multiprocessor system but pay only for the processors they need at the time. Then, if workloads increase, they can pay to "turn on" additional processors.
In this case, the customer was already using 12 of the 32 processors available in each of their IBM p690 servers. So, by having 8 more turned on for each machine, they quickly had the increase they needed. The results are summed up simply in an email from the customer to Jeskell: "Awesome! Thank you!"
